Toddlers and Tieras

So I watched Toddlers and Tieras last night. Wow. What an industry that must be. In an American recession, these moms are spending what little money that is left, turning their children in to what they could never be. Obvious to all. These poor children ranging from 0-12 are dressed up, some looking like hookers, and made to perform various acts to impress the desprate need of their parents. These children are tired, cranky and made to endure hours of hair make-up and dress- up so that they can win a Beauty Paegent?
Honestly, our daughters don't have enough pressure to be perfect, beautiful and sexy like the models they see on TV, and in Magazines, that their own mothers have to force them to compete to be the most beautiful at the ages of 4?
What happens to the self esteem of a 6 year old, when a judge tells her she is not as talented, or beautiful as the other 6 year old beside her? What happens when she is 13? 15? 18? That is not a way to teach our girls how to be beautiful.
It is the sadest excuse for parenting I have ever seen. Shame on the mothers who do this to their daughters.
They need to know they are beautiful for who they are, with out being judged by a room full of desprate adults who couldn't make it themselves.
